In this deeply personal talk, Jessica describes how she turned things around through community and education. We report findings from a 6‐year prospective, longitudinal study of the Dutch part of the International Multicenter ADHD Genetics (IMAGE) study, including individuals with childhood‐onset (persistent) ADHD (n = 193), their siblings with late‐onset ADHD (n = 34), their stable unaffected siblings (n = 111) and healthy controls (n = 186). ADHD-related aberrant brain responses to this naturalistic stimulus were identified using intersubject correlations (ISCs) in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data collected from 51 adults with ADHD and 29 healthy controls. Late talking is more a symptom of autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and is often misdiagonsed as ADHD. I know because my son had an ADHD diagnosis and he is really on the autism spectrum. A NeuroPsychologist or Autism Specialist can test for this. A late talker is usually a child who is 2-years-old who’s saying fewer than 50 words and is not yet combining words. The point of comparison is an average 2-year-old who has mastered about 300 words and starts to put them together into very short sentences like “More milk” or “Mommy up.”.

But all other areas of development are within the typically developing range (other areas of development could include: social, adaptive, play skills, cognitive skills, fine and gross motor skills).
